ABOUT US
Jungle Book Academy safely provides in-person learning to a small group of children from 3-5 years of age. Curriculum is delivered by an Ontario Certified Teacher in a warm home environment with as much time spent exploring the outdoors in nature as possible.
Our learning approaches stem from the following three frameworks:
-
Inquiry-based learning: A dynamic and emergent process that builds on students’ natural curiosity about the world in which they live.
-
Play-based learning: Recognizes the integral role of play in a child’s development. This approach engages the whole child by encouraging a depth of experience and treating a child’s emotional, physical and social selves as interwoven.
-
Experiential learning: Learning that is based on students being directly involved in a learning experience. Students learn through and reflect on their learning experiences.
At Jungle Book Academy, our students learn all subjects covered in the Ontario Curriculum Document, including: literacy (oral communication, reading, writing, media literacy), mathematics, science (problem solving & innovating), social studies (belonging and contributing), physical education (self regulation & well being), visual arts, music and drama and dance. We have also incorporated other alternative subjects into our daily routine, such as, meditation and mindfulness.
